Do you remember that one time your sweet, darling kitten, Moxie, licked the floor as you were mopping? Did it make you afraid that sweet Mox might get sick or die?? Fast forward a couple of years, and now sweet, darling Moxie has a baby sister. A human one. Wait, you know what I mean! You are now the proud parent of a human child. Are you sure that the cleaning products you are using are safe for your family; babies, kittens and all? If not, I urge you to try a different way of cleaning your home. Try going without the toxic chemicals for a while. I'll bet you won't miss them at all, not as long as you've got the Thieves cleaner I'm getting ready to share with you!

So, What is Thieves? Simply put, it's an essential oil blend from Young Living which includes clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This essential oil blend is approved for ingestion by the FDA, and may be taken as a dietary supplement to help support your immune system. It can also be applied topically or diffused. Funnily enough, according to the company,
Young Living’s Thieves essential oil blend is based on the legend of 14th century thieves who used clove, rosemary, and other aromatics to protect themselves while robbing plague victims.
Isn't that fascinating?! And kind of ridiculous! Imagine if those thieves hadn't been so resourceful or knowledgeable...It could have been a different story altogether, or no story at all!

Thieves cleaner is super easy to make. It only requires a couple of ingredients and a spray bottle (and these fun, FREE, downloadable labels for you to put on your spray bottle!)

Thieves Cleaner Recipe:

Ingredients:
Thieves Essential Oil (Need oils? Learn more HERE.)
Distilled Water
Castille Soap-I like this one from Dr. Bronner's.

Add 1 Drop Thieves Essential Oil per ounce of distilled water to your spray bottle (For Example, 16 ounces of distilled water = 16 drops thieves essential oil.)
Add 1-2 Ounces castille soap (optional) I like the additional foaminess this added, but it isn't necessary.

Personally, I like to add the castille soap first, then add the oil, then add the water and shake. There is no right or wrong, that's just my preference. Shake cleaner before use.

Alternately, You can add 1 cap-full Thieves Concentrated Cleaner (buy here) to 16 ounces of distilled water.

Create a wonderful cleaner that can clean almost anything without fear of killing the cat. Or the kid.

Did you remember to download your free labels?! Use them at a Make and Take party, or for yourself, because it's not unreasonable to have 12 bottles of this stuff around the house.

Thanks for this recipe! We ran out of Thieves cleaner over the weekend and I knew there had to be a DIY version to use until my wellness box gets here! We’re currently on hurricane watch so I’m afraid it will take even longer. I stopped in my tracks when I saw your oily social media icons! Where did you get those little gems?

It’s ironic that this post would highlight essential oils as a safe cleaning alternative for using around pets. Essential oils are actually extremely toxic to cats. No aromatherapist would recommend them as a safe cleaning alternative for your cat to lick! Cat livers are not able to cope with EOs. Please do your research.
