My love language is quality time, definitely not gift giving. I'm learning to be a thoughtful gift giver, but it's tough sometimes! Being an essential oil distributor gives me an interesting perspective on gift giving, though, and I think it is making me a better and more creative gift giver and donation maker.
I recently had the opportunity to give to an auction to benefit a local family who needs some extra support after an unexpected health crisis. I thought I would gift a cute basket of oils and be done with it. Then there was no basket I liked, And just a few oils seemed like a very tiny gift, which may not draw the biggest bid. And on and on... Then I had a light bulb moment! The three oils were all citrus oils and would be delicious in water. So I packaged them up in some darling cellophane and , complete with some recommended usage cards that I whipped up (just in case this gift goes to someone who has never heard of essential oils). I topped it off with some all natural instant , and a cute bundle of oily cards, and off goes one of my favorite gifts I have ever given. I just hope the person who bids on it loves it as much as I do!
Giving a gift with the other person's wants in mind, without knowing who it's going to can be hard to figure out! I feel like this gift fills a need for someone I may not even know, which has been really fun!
In the spirit of giving... Those citrus oil usage cards I whipped up? They're now freebies to those signed up for my email list along with all the other freebies that were already there! The bank of free printables is growing <3 If you're not yet on the list, It's easy!

What to Include in Your Young Living New Member Welcome Packet

Congratulations on signing up a new member to your team! I know the feeling... It's wonderful to be sharing products with people that you never feel guilty about sharing. These products are worth buying! And now, someone else knows it! How are you going to treat this new member? Like they've won the lottery, or like you have? Honestly, you both have, but being generous, sharing, and kind will always pay off in the end. So here's the six million dollar question: How do you welcome new members to your team?

First, make sure you have asked them if they are interested in building a business, or if they're only in it for the products. You will be able to meet their needs in a much better way if you are giving them exactly the information they want.

For every new member I sign up, I try to send a small packet in the mail with some basic information, and a small gift. Each person, whether they are a business builder or personal user, receives:
  1. A welcome letter detailing how to navigate the virtual office, and including all the ways to get in touch with me.
  2. The 10 Day Starter Kit Challenge. I was just introduced to this sweet idea by my upline. This is a great way to get new members to crack open their kit and start using it immediately. (I just right click on the picture and print it out, as I don't think there is a PDF version.)
  3. A personal note- I write mine on these postcards or note cards usually.
  4. Some kind of literature on Thieves and Ningxia, two of the absolute best parts of Young Living.
  5. A small gift. Sometimes I'll include a Thieves toothpaste, simply because I love that stuff and want to share it! Lately I've been including a Thieves Tea Kit, which is always received happily. I'm sure there are a hundred different gifts to give here, but I like to keep it simple and have certain items on hand to quickly get welcome packets in the mail.

Streamline This Process

Lately, I have been finding it very difficult to make it to the post office, and to get these in the mail! I have a mental block when it comes to the post office, and just in case you are having the same trouble as me, here's another way to get your new team member a great little surprise in the mail.
  • Print out all the above literature. (Even print copies in advance so all you have to do is gather them together!)
  • Put in a regular envelope and pop in the mailbox with a stamp on it. Or two stamps if it seems too thick.
  • Then, add a $5 product credit to your new member's account so they still get a sweet treat. In order to do that, you will need to call Young Living and have them place the product credit on the new member's account. You can even use these coupons I made if you like, and tuck one in the envelope with the other paperwork. Don't forget to sign by the heart!
This really makes the whole process easy peasy!

For Business builders only:
  1. A copy of Go Pro by Eric Worre, or Gameplan by Sarah Harnisch.
  2. A printout of the compensation plan.
  3. All of the other items mentioned above.
And remember, this is only what's physically included in the welcome packet to send in the mail. Be sure to contact anyone you think may have questions, and invite your business builders to all your monthly meetings and other events, so that they have a place to bring prospective members!

Have fun building your team, and remember to have fun putting together your welcome packets-- It will show through to your new team member!
